新泽西州议会通过网络娱乐场和扑克游戏法案

　　The New Jersey Assembly just approved the online poker and online casino regulatory bill developed by State Senator Ray Lesniak. Lesniak will now attempt to push the bill through the Senate as well.

　　This morning （yesterday evening New Jersey time） the New Jersey Assembly debated and approved a bill developed by State Senator Ray Lesniak. The bill drafted by Lesniak attempts to legalize online poker and online casino gaming on the territory of the state.

　　Ray Lesniak explained last week that he would this week introduce his intrastate online poker and online casino legalization bill. Lesniak predicted that the overwhelming majority of the Assembly would approve the bill, which is what indeed happened in the end.

　　After the vote in the Assembly, the bill will have to be approved by the State Senate as well. Lesniak believes that his bill would pass the Senate vote too. His previous online poker and casino legalization bill introduced last year was also approved by the Senate.

　　Ray Lesniak failed to push through his online casino and poker regulatory bill last year when Governor Chris Christie vetoed it even though it was approved by the overwhelming majority of both the State Assembly and Senate.

　　Governor Christie claimed that while he was sympathetic to online casino gaming and poker, he vetoed the bill in order to protect citizens and the state's horse racing industry that could have potentially lost revenues in case people decided not to visit race tracks due to real money online gaming.

　　Lesniak explained that he tried to address all of these issues in his latest bill and believes that this time Governor Christie will have no reason to stand in the way of legalizing internet poker and online casino gaming in the state.

　　The new legislation will allow New Jersey based casinos to apply for online poker and online casino licenses. Standalone online casinos and poker rooms will only be permitted to apply for a license in case they manage to form a partnership with a land-based casino.

　　Likewise, New Jersey online casinos and poker sites will have to use geolocation technology to block the access of US residents living in other states than New Jersey. If Lesniak's bill is adopted by the Senate and approved by Christie, then New Jersey would become one of the first US states to legalize online casinos.
